FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
Available to Purchase
During my school years, my art teacher introduced me to a fascinating book titled Military Customs in Old Japan, originally published in 1893. The book featured striking photographs of samurai adorned in traditional armour, which immediately captivated my imagination. I was so inspired by these images that I created numerous line drawings based on them. Among the pioneering photographers of that era were Felice Beato and Baron Raimund von Stillfried, whose work continues to fascinate me. I often wondered what these trailblazers might have achieved if they had access to today’s cutting-edge cameras and technologies.
For many years, I’ve taken product photographs of the armour I sell, but I felt compelled to go beyond documentation and explore fine art photography.
This project is my tribute to the Meiji-era photographers I have long admired. My aim has been to blend the timeless allure of their work with the precision and possibilities of modern reprographics.
The prints you see here represent the first steps in that journey. I’ve carefully selected some of my favourite images from the initial photo shoot to share with you. Because quality is at the heart of everything I do, I collaborated with one of the UK’s top fine art printers to ensure each print is crafted to the highest standards.
It would be a genuine honour to see these pieces find a place in your home, and I sincerely hope they bring you as much joy as I found in creating them.
